Urban Air Adventure expands to ABQ

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque residents looking for a thrill won’t have to travel far once an indoor skydiving, roller coaster and trampoline park opens later this year.

Urban Air Adventure Parks, a Texas-based company, is set to open a franchise at 3900 Pan American NE that will offer indoor skydiving, an indoor roller coaster, climbing walls, a ropes course and numerous other attractions, the company announced Friday.

“We are excited to bring our award-winning innovative attractions and birthday-party packages to the residents of Albuquerque and surrounding communities,” Michael Browning, Urban Air’s co-founder and CEO, said in a news release.

In addition to amusement rides and offerings, the location will have a cafe.

The Urban Air Albuquerque location is planning to hire 60 employees and will begin accepting applications this spring. Information related to a construction timeline and the size of the facility was not immediately available.

But that fun doesn’t stop with Urban Air, as several other vendors are vying for Albuquerque’s entertainment dollars.

Main Event Entertainment — a Dallas-based chain of “eat-bowl-play” venues — opened its new Albuquerque location in July 2016, following months of construction on what had been a vacant lot alongside Pan American Freeway, near Comanche.

Earlier this month, Topgolf, a sports entertainment company, said it is seeking to open an Albuquerque location near Montaño Road and Interstate 25.

And in December 2016, unnamed developers said they have plans to build a golf/entertainment complex called BigShots Golf on a 20-acre site on Balloon Fiesta Parkway between San Mateo and Pan American Freeway NE.
