Cops Shoot, Kill Dog After Attack

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police shot and killed a dog after it and another dog attacked a man in southwest Albuquerque this afternoon.

A man in his early 20s was attacked by the two dogs in the 1500 block of 7 Falls Place SW shortly after 3:30 p.m., said APD officer Tasia Martinez. Police arrived to find the man standing on top of a vehicle to avoid the animals.

As the officers approached the man, one of the dogs charged at them, Martinez said. The officers fired, shooting and killing the dog. The other dog was secured and placed in custody of animal control.

The man was bleeding heavily and had bite wounds on his head, arm and torso, Martinez said. He was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.
