Sports Speak Up!

OMG. WHAT AN amazing Super Bowl. The best ever? Thank goodness The Evil Empire didn’t win yet again. Enough of them already. We need to turn the page and move on from the Pats. Quarterback controversy in Philly? Wentz or Foles? Who ya got? If Philly goes with Wentz, Foles can demand a trade and sign for Scrooge McDuck money to the highest bidder. His days of being a backup are long gone. What a great year of football. When does the NFL preseason start back up?

I RARELY PAY attention to art work in the Journal Sports section, but I must compliment staffer Cathryn Cunningham on her Super Bowl illustration. That was first-rate.

WOW, MY ultimate sports weekend. My two high schools both won —Española beat Academy and Manzano beat La Cueva; the Men and Lady Lobos swept San Jose State, Urlacher in the Hall Of Fame, Celtics won, Warriors lost, and the Eagles stop New England from tying my Steelers with six Super Bowl rings!

— Vince Guillen

FINALLY! Lobo fans, the men and women basketball teams, for the first time this season, won on the same day.

WATCHING TV coverage of Saturday’s Wannamaker Mile at the Millrose Games in NYC, one wouldn’t have known that UNM’s Josh Kerr was even in the field, as his name wasn’t mentioned once before he crossed the finish line a close second to Chris O’Hare in 3 minutes, 54.72 seconds, the fifth fastest time in NCAA history, outkicking five of six Olympians while setting new MWC and UNM records at the distance. Great run, Josh! Just wanted to assure you that at least one viewer knew you were there and was cheering you on.

CONGRATS TO Brian Urlacher! That was best thing to come out of the NFL because Tom Brady making MVP is the most BS thing ever! Gurley should have made MVP. He did more to help his team.
