WATCHING THE UNM-San Jose State basketball game Saturday from San Jose reminded me of the crowd size of 2,151 and atmosphere of Lobo games in Johnson Gym before coach Bob King was hired by UNM. King began to overflow Johnson Gym’s capacity and in only his 4th season had the Lobos playing in a new arena seating 14,831 fans. How many coaches have accomplished such a feat? The Pit has given citizens of New Mexico over a half-century of excitement. Why isn’t there a statue of “The King” at the main entrance of the building?

THE ONLY THING that would have made Super Bowl 52 sweeter was if the Minnesota Vikings had defeated the Cheater Patriots, at home. After all, the Vikings were 0-4 in Super Bowls. Having said that, I’ll take this Eagles victory.

CONGRATS PHILLY FANS. However, the NFL really needs to clarify the catch rule. The pass receptions from Clement and Ertz would have both been ruled incomplete during the regular season. Why change the rules for the Super Bowl? All season long I heard that a receiver must complete the process, secure the ball and survive the ground. Both catches did not live up to these rules. Also a huge congrats to Brian Urlacher for making the Hall of Fame on the first ballot.
