REGARDLESS OF where you stand on Bob Davie’s suspension … I found it interesting to read comments from two of Coach Davie’s supporters (former UNM football player, Garrett Adcock, and Curt Rothschiller, father of two former Lobos) that Bob Davie does indeed have a temper, and that he is more of a disciplinarian than he is a “players coach.” At the very least, when the 30 day suspension was assigned, I’m hoping that (former) interim president, Chaouki Abdallah and AD, Eddie Nunez, required him to attend some anger management training.

THE MOUNTAIN WEST Conference’s football scheduling computer is also piling on Bob Davie by having UNM play 3 of their first 4 conference games on the road in 2018. They say that the scheduling is done randomly? Funny how that computer has never given Boise State the same scenario. Imagine the outcry in Boise. UNM officials? They won’t say a word, which is a major piece of the puzzle as to why Albuquerque is lacking as a football town.

MORE MARCH MAGIC from Lady Lobo basketball Tuesday night when they beat tough Wyoming team on senior night. Those who stayed were treated to a sincere, sweet thank you from four super seniors to coaches and fans. Friday night in Fresno, the team was down 17 before half and looked done, but coach Mike asked to be given a technical foul so he could regain his team’s attention. They cut lead to down 10 at half and fought valiantly in the second half to tie, go to OT and win. Bradbury MWC coach of the year!

WILL NOT BE attending the MWC or WAC tournaments in Las Vegas for the first time in years. Just happens there are two good basketball teams both boys and girls from Los Lunas in the state tournament at the Pit. It would be nice if the Journal would publish the brackets as they progress. You might even sell a few more newspapers. Good luck Lobos and Aggies I will catch you guys on the tube!

UNM’S ATTENDANCE problems in the Pit began when the approximate 3,500 theater type seats in the balcony were removed during the $60 million renovation and replaced with the now half-empty suites. (Mr. Nuñez, tear down these suites.) All of those fans had to be relocated. Most of them relocated to their living rooms to watch the games on TV, the internet (absurd), or put Paul Krebs and UNM in their rear view mirrors. For newcomers who think that the recent crowds have been loud, imagine 18,018 fans in attendance. Now that made for one loud building.

COACH WEIR has stated that the Lobo basketball players were not a known commodity. How to help correct this? Place the names of the players on the backs of their uniforms. That would assist us Lobo fans in knowing who these otherwise anonymous players are.

CLOSING IN on 50 years of watching Lobo Basketball, I believe, this is the first season when there wasn’t a player who was truly a fan favorite.
YOUR ARTICLE on attendance at the Pit talks about everything but ignores the real issue: (The) cost to attend the game. I have been a season ticket holder for over 50 years. It has never cost more to attend a game than it does now. If you want the fans to come back bring down the cost.

SOLO, YOU WERE lucky that a woman agreed to go with you on a first date to a Lobo baseball game. But seriously, you went back to the well once too often. After that 4+ hour marathon in the cold and wind, she deserved a nice dinner at a top-notch restaurant. She’s giving you the cold shoulder because … her shoulder is still cold.
