Class 2A girls: Fort Sumner/House, Peñasco advance to final

BERNALILLO — Jordyn Stowe scored 17 points for fourth-seeded Fort Sumner/House, which knocked off top seed Logan 40-38 on Thursday in Class 2A girls semifinal action at Bernalillo High School.

Fort Sumner/House (20-10 ) advances to today’s 5:30 p.m. final at Dreamstyle Arena — the Pit against third-seeded Peñasco, which defeated No. 7 Lordsburg in the other semifinal.

No. 4 FORT SUMNER/HOUSE 40, No. 1 LOGAN 38: The Longhorns (21-6) led 34-30 after three quarters but scored only one bucket in the final period. Logan outrebounded FSH 29-19, but gave that advantage away by committing a whopping 25 turnovers.

Claudia Torres added 10 points for FSH, which weathered a frigid 4-for-24 performance through the middle two quarters. Jordan Hines and Kaylee Foote had nine points each for Logan.

No. 3 PEÑASCO 60, No. 7 LORDSBURG 45: Alaska Lopez had 19 points and Carly Gonzales added 15 points and 16 rebounds for the 26-4 Panthers, who won despite shooting just 30 percent from the field. Adrianna Tafoya added 13 points.

Anissa Plowman scored 17 points and Gabby Artiaga had 15 for Lordsburg, which trailed 28-14 at halftime.
