APD investigating homicide near Central and Wyoming

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police Sunday night were investigating a death near Central and Wyoming — the second homicide investigation of the day.

Police spokesman Simon Drobik said police were dispatched around 8 p.m. to a “fight in progress” in the 200 block of Wisconsin NE and found a man dead.

One person is in custody, Drobik said, and investigators will likely remain on site into the morning.

Earlier in the day, police shut down Menaul between Broadbent and Interstate 25 after a man was found dead in the area.

Drobik said police received a shots fired call just after 8 a.m., and discovered the body on the sidewalk shortly after.

The body had “massive trauma,” but Drobik did not say whether the individual had been shot. That person has not been identified.

“I’m not sure what’s going on,” Drobik said in an email late Sunday, “but it is a busy night for the men and women of APD.”
