Deputies ID couple in murder suicide last week

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Deputies have identified the couple who died in a murder suicide in the East Mountains last week as Stephen Davenport, 70, and his wife Judy Davenport, 66.

About 5 p.m. on March 22, detectives say Stephen Davenport called 911 to say he had killed someone and was going to kill himself.

When deputies arrived at the Davenport’s secluded home, tucked into the Sandia Mountains on Penny Lane in Cedar Crest, they found Judy Davenport had been killed and Stephen had a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a spokeswoman for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

“On deputies arrival both individuals were found deceased with gunshot wounds,” deputy Felicia Maggard wrote in an email. “Evidence is consistent with a murder-suicide.”
