ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Rail Runner commuter train struck and killed a man near San Felipe Pueblo this evening, halting service for almost 150 passengers on three trains.
The man, who was unidentified, was killed at 8 p.m. about a mile south of the San Felipe Pueblo exit near Interstate 25.
Around 80 passengers were aboard the train when the collision happened, and the train took between a quarter-mile and half-mile to fully stop, said Rail Runner spokeswoman Augusta Meyers.
The passengers were bused to Albuquerque. The subsequent train to Santa Fe was stopped en route and about 50 passengers finished the trip by bus.
Passengers on the final train that departed Santa Fe at 9 p.m. also were being bused to Albuquerque.
