BCSO looking for owner of abandoned urn, cremains

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies are trying to reunite an urn of human cremains with its rightful owner after it was found off westbound Interstate 40 Monday afternoon.

Deputy Felicia Maggard, a BCSO spokeswoman, said around 1 p.m. a PNM worker found the urn off I-40 near mile marker 143 about seven miles outside the city.

“The urn was turned in at the South Valley Area Command Center and will be tagged for safekeeping at Albuquerque Police Department Evidence,” Maggard wrote in a news release. “The urn has specific markings, but contains no identifiers to locate the rightful owner.”
