SANTA FE – Public Education Department Secretary Christopher Ruszkowski has affirmed the Public Education Commission’s December decision to revoke the charter of New Mexico Connections Academy, an online charter school based in Santa Fe.
The school had appealed the commission’s decision. The commission “outlined substantial evidence that the school has failed to meet standards, said a PED news release.
Connections Academy is New Mexico’s largest on-line charter school, with about 2,000 students. The school had received two straight F grades under the state’s school grading system.
The school is part of Connections Education LLC, a Baltimore operation with schools in 30 states. Ruszkowski’s decision can be appealed to state court.
