And the good news continues.
On June 30, A&E announced that the TV show — which is filmed at Greer Garson Studios in Santa Fe — will be back for a second season.
The TV drama premiered on June 3 with 4.1 million viewers and has held most of its audience. In fact, the June 24 episode had 3.8 million viewers.
“Longmire” is based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson.
The series follows Walt Longmire, played by Robert Taylor, who is the charismatic and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyo.
Longmire has been struggling with his life and career since his wife’s death, but at the urging of his daughter, Cady, played by Cassidy Freeman, he knows that the time has come to turn his life around.
With the help of Vic, played by Katee Sackhoff, he becomes reinvigorated about his job and committed to running for re-election.
When Branch Connally, played by Bailey Chase, an ambitious, young deputy decides to run against him for sheriff, Longmire feels betrayed but remains steadfast in his dedication to the community. He often turns to close friend and confidant Henry Standing Bear, played by Lou Diamond Phillips, for support as he sets out to rebuild both his personal and professional life, one step at a time.
The series airs at 8 p.m. Sundays and will wrap up its season on Aug. 5.
