A motorcyclist died after being struck by a pickup truck on Menaul near Edith NE Monday morning.
Officer Simon Drobik, a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department, said shortly before 10 a.m. police were called to a fatal crash at the intersection.
He said the investigation found a man, later identified as Quwali Foster, was driving a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Menaul.
“As it neared the intersection with Edith a 2006 full size Ford pickup being driven by a male adult was turning from northbound Edith to westbound Menaul,” Drobik wrote in an email. “The motorcyclist attempted to brake and swerve but struck the rear of the pickup in the far left lane.”
He said Foster was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Foster was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he died. Drobik did not provide his age or date of birth.
“Initial investigation does not show excessive speed on the part of the motorcycle,” Drobik said. “Alcohol was not a factor.”
He said the driver of the pickup truck is not facing charges or a citation at this time.
