I love you, travel safe.
Those were the last words Michael Riordan said to his wife Jennifer.
Hours later, Riordan got a call telling him his wife had been killed when an engine exploded on the Southwest flight she was taking.
Riordan sat down with ABC News to talk about his wife, Jennifer, their family and forging on in her absence.
In the interview Riordan spans the couple’s nearly 30-year relationship, describing Jennifer as a “light of energy” when they first met at the mall as teenagers.
From there, he said it was “love at first sight.”
“For some reason, there was always something that just kept us together,” Riordan said during the interview, delving into obstacles the two faced as they tried to start a family amidst fertility issues.
“The care and love she had for our children was top notch,” he said.
Becoming emotional at times, Riordan looked back on their life together and the legacy they will leave their kids while acknowledging the journey forward without her.
The interview will air on an upcoming episode of “20/20.”
