Sad news for the NBC series “The Brave.”

The freshman show got the ax after its first season by NBC on Friday. The TV show was filmed in Albuquerque.

Show creator Dean Georgaris tweeted about the cancellation.

“Thanks to all of you for your support. The network called me an hour ago. They were gracious and I’m grateful for the chance they took in putting us on the air. Sorry there won’t be more BRAVE,” he said in the Friday tweet.

The series was one of three military-themed shows to hit the airwaves in fall 2017. It aired 13 episodes and averaged around 4.6 million viewers.

There was an online campaign to get the show renewed called #renewthebrave.

The official handle for Renew The Brave! said in a tweet, “An incredibly sad day Bravers. We tried so damn hard.”

On Friday afternoon, fans of the show were posting to the Twitter campaign to see if Netflix would pick up the show.

“The Brave” tells the stories of an elite American undercover military squad. The Special Ops group is led by Capt. Adam Dalton, who is played by Mike Vogel, working hand-in-hand with the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Anne Heche plays the part of the DIA’s deputy director, and her team of analysts guide the squad using the world’s most advanced surveillance technology from headquarters in Washington, D.C.

It also starred Tate Ellington, Sofia Pernas, Demetrius Grosse, Natacha Karam, Noah Mills and Hadi Tabbal.

The pilot filmed in Morocco before finding its home in Albuquerque last year. The city filled in for numerous places around the world.

During its more than six months filming in New Mexico, Georgaris wanted the cast to be a part of the community, therefore actors have turned up around town.

Part of the cast participated in the “Horses for Heroes” event at the New Mexico State Fair in September.

They also visited Kirtland Air Force Base on Sept. 11 to talk with military personnel and learn some tactics.

When the show was completed in January, the show donated racks of clothes to Albuquerque Public Schools and the cast donated hundreds of items to Toys for Tots.

And you could find the cast training at Jackson Wink MMA Academy.

According to the New Mexico Film Office, the production employed approximately 600 New Mexico crew members, 180 resident actors and stunt players and approximately 4,000 New Mexico background talent.

Cast and Crew from the NBC show the Brave got together for a wrap up party at Green Jeans Saturday evening. This was also a chance for the crew to collect toys for tots.
