ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Drivers who go through the Interstate 25/Rio Bravo interchange project area are in for a few changes starting Friday morning.
Southbound I-25 traffic will be shifted to the new permanent lanes just west of the existing northbound lanes and north of the interchange, as the construction project moves into Phase 2, according to a state Department of Transportation news release.
Additionally, the southbound I-25 on-ramp will be closed at Rio Bravo through fall 2018, and the northbound I-25 off-ramp will be closed at Rio Bravo through spring 2019. Drivers will be able to use Broadway Boulevard as a detour.
“The ramp closures will allow crews to begin working on a new bridge at the interchange, improve both closed ramps and expand lanes on I-25,” the DOT says.
Phase 2 construction is expected to last through fall 2018. The entire project is expected to be done in summer 2019.
