Pajarito Mountain Ski Area opens its summer season Friday with lift-served mountain biking and hiking from noon to 4 p.m. The mountain will feature new events and fun activities all summer.
Pajarito Mountain features 1,200 feet of downhill, cross-country and free-ride mountain bike trails. The 30-trail system is built and maintained almost entirely by volunteers from Los Alamos and features dirt and North Shore-style trails ranging from beginner to expert.
Lift-served biking and hiking are available during the summer on Saturdays and Sundays through October, in addition to special hours on May 28, June 21 and Sept. 3. Lift-served mountain biking is $29 a day. The hiking lift is $10 a day. Rental bikes from Rocky Mountain include helmets and armor for only $99 a day.
