Artesia High senior pitcher Kali Crandall has been named the 2018 Gatorade New Mexico Softball Player of the Year.
Crandall is the first Gatorade New Mexico Softball Player of the Year to be chosen from Artesia High School.
Crandall, bound for Oklahoma Christian University, is a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year award announced in June.
She led the Bulldogs (29-4) to the Class 5A state championship this past season. Crandall owned a 15-2 record with a 1.18 ERA in the circle, along with a .424 batting average, eight home runs and 32 RBIs. She struck out 115 batters and issued just 14 walks in 89 innings pitched. A two-time First Team All-State selection, she is also a four-time All-District honoree.
Crandall has maintained a 4.14 grade-point average, according to a release.
