Home builder announces second phase at Mesa del Sol

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — More than dozen new homes will be coming out of the ground at the Mesa Del Sol master planned community this year, according to a development agreement announced Tuesday.
Westway Homes said it is looking to build 13 homes on three acres of land near Stryker and University, according to a news release from MDS Funding LLC, the newly formed investment group that recently acquired 2,800 acres within the 12,900-acre master-planned community of commercial and residential properties.
Terms of the land purchase agreement between MDS and Westway were not disclosed.
Groundbreaking will commence soon on Westway’s second phase of construction in the subdivison. The plan is to have a new model home completed this fall in time for the Parade of Homes event, according to a Westway executive.
With another 10 homes currently under construction in the subdivision, Westway is the only active residential builder at Mesa Del Sol.
“I am excited to partner with (MDS principal) Steve Chavez and continue to build on the vision of a safe, smart, sustainable community,” said Michael Fietz, founder of Westway Homes and the current president of the Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico.
Westway will build single- and multi-level homes ranging from approximately 1,500 to 2,500 square feet “in an urban contemporary style,” according to the Fietz.
Pricing will be in the low 300s, according to a Mesa Del Sol spokeswoman.
Fietz is the former co-owner of Twilight Homes. He launched Westway in December 2017. He said the company has another 15 homes under construction in other metro-area subdivisions.
