HERON LAKE: Fishing is still slow. A few rainbow trout and
ko, and Sunday, Sept. 16. As a championship event, competitors must have qualified by participating in at least four of the previous Bass Anglers Tournaments this year. The event is open to the public and begins at daybreak each day, with weigh-ins taking place midafternoon.

Andre Martinez of Albuquerque caught four largemouth bass this past week while fishing the CORRALES DRAIN. He was using a Strike King spinnerbait. Fishing at TINGLEY BEACH’S Central and Youth Ponds was good using hot dogs, worms, shrimp, liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. Trout fishing on the upper and lower CEBOLLA was very good using worms, salmon eggs, mop flies, copper John Barrs and stonefly nymphs.Fishing at EAGLE NEST LAKE continues to be excellent using worms, small grubs and PowerBait for perch. Fishing at NAVAJO LAKE was good using crank baits, jerk baits and spinners for northern pike. Fishing was good using ned rigs, drop shot rigs, chatter baits, baby brush hogs, tubes and curly-tail grubs for smallmouth and largemouth bass. Streamflow on the SAN JUAN RIVER below Navajo Lake was 914 cfs on Monday morning. Fishing was good using klinkhamers, bead-head hares’ ears, root beers, RS2s, foam wing emergers and red annelids. Through the bait waters, fishing was fair to good using night crawlers, jerk baits, small spoons, PowerBait and copper John Barrs for a mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout. Fishing at CONCHAS LAKE was good using worms and small grubs for bluegill. At UTE LAKE, fishing was good using worms for bluegill. At MONASTERY LAKE, fishing was very good using PowerBait, worms, banjo minnows and Pistol Petes for trout.Streamflow on the RIO GRANDE on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 187 cfs. Fishing was good using mop flies, poundmeisters, stonefly imitations, elk hair caddis, Fire Balls, PowerBait and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout.Streamflow on the RIO GRANDE below Elephant Butte on Monday morning was 1,660 cfs. Fishing was very good using shiners, cut bait, night crawlers and shrimp for channel catfish.Fishing at ELEPHANT BUTTE LAKE was good using liver, cut bait, shiners and shrimp for catfish. Fishing was good using curly-tail grubs, crank baits, sassy shad, jerk baits, minnows and spoons for white bass.
