ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An ongoing maintenance project at the Metropolitan Detention Center will disrupt inmates’ visits and access to phone calls for the next several days.
Intermittent power outages are expected mid-afternoon Tuesday through Friday, according to a news release from the jail. The jail is currently upgrading it’s transformer, which is 20 years old.
During some of the expected power outages, inmates will not by able to make phone calls or have visitors.
People have to visit inmates prior to 2 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, but that could extend later in the week.
The news release said that the jail has contingency plans in place to make sure the facility is safe during the maintenance project.
