Notah Begay III, a four-time PGA Tour winner, is scheduled to play in the New Mexico Open on Sept. 11-13 at Sandia Golf Club, said Dana Lehner, Sun Country PGA Section executive director, on Wednesday.
Begay, an Albuquerque native and Albuquerque Academy and Stanford alumnus, last played in the event in 2012. He won the New Mexico Open in 1998. The NBC Sports and Golf Channel analyst will turn 46 on Sept. 14.
Begay expressed his excitement via Twitter.
“Gonna take a quick break from broadcasting to see if I can make a few birdies in the 2018 New Mexico Open! Special thanks to the Pueblo of Sandia for their support! The (Sandia Golf Club) is a wonderful venue!! I better start practicing!! #ShakeOffTheRust #20yearsisalongtime,” he tweeted.
