SINCE PAUL WEIR wants to honor a legendary high school coach, rather than waste taxpayer money on a trip to Hobbs, he should honor the greatest high school coach in the history of New Mexico basketball, coach Jim Hulsman from Albuquerque High School. I also think Paul Weir should honor the two coaches at UNM which had the greatest influence on UNM sports, Roy Johnson and Bob King. I am confident I can give Paul Weir a better history lesson than he can give me.

WELL PLAYED NIKE! The apparel company is trying to get the 16-34 year old male customer and Colin Kaepernick is their guy. Can’t wait to hear from the dinosaurs who regularly contribute to the Journal. Signing off of Sports Speak Up! It’s been a great decade!

HEY RP, Wisconsin is paying UNM $1.2 million to play a football game. How much did Cal State Fullerton pay UNM to lose a soccer game 5-1? Like 5 bucks?
PEOPLE WHO ARE allowed to anonymously write about how loyal they are to UNM, but … never give a dime if soccer is cut are not Lobo fans. Supposed boosters sounding off without consequence isn’t journalism. No one I know has ceased donations to UNM. Until this community realizes what every successful athletic program at every other university has realized, football is the only sport that can bring in enough revenue to support non-revenue producing sports, like soccer, we will continue this insane conversation. Soccer loses money. Soccer is never on TV. Many (“ADs”) and not enough fans.

“COACH DAVIE has a plan” must be a joke. We The Ex-Lobo Veterans Group feel that athletes who disrespect the flag and national anthem of this country should not be on scholarship status in any university or college. The professional athletic teams included, they have never experienced the cost of freedom.
