505 Southwest inks deal with Arizona D-backs

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — ABQ-based 505 Southwestern clearly is on the ball.

A division of the Flagship Food Group, the maker of sauces, salsas and chips on Friday said it has inked a partnership with yet another sports team: the Arizona Diamondbacks.

According to a news release, 505 has been chosen as the official chip, salsa, and green chile brand of the D-backs. The company’s products will be on the lineup at select concession stands and incorporated into menu items throughout the ballpark. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are excited to spice up the food options at Chase Field by teaming up with 505 Southwestern,” said Derrick Hall, the D-backs president & CEO in a statement.

“A lot of people don’t realize how strong our ties are with the Arizona community,” said Rob Holland, CEO of Flagship Food Group in a statement. He said Phoenix is one of the company’s best markets, and almost all of its green chile seeds are grown in Wilcox, Ariz. “It was only natural to partner with the best team in town to grow our presence in this state,” said Holland.

The company has announced similar branding deals with the Los Angeles Angels and Denver Broncos this year. More partnerships are in the works, according to Flagship Foods officials, whose 505 Southwestern division has its manufacturing and distribution facilities in Albuquerque.
