A $3.5 million grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences will finance a three-year effort to train biomedical researchers in seven states on how to take new inventions to market. The University of New Mexico’s Clinical and Translational Science Center will co-lead the project with the University of Montana.
UNM will develop educational curriculum with assistance from Seattle-based product development company Virtici to build entrepreneurial skills among faculty at 11 universities. The project co-leads will distribute the curriculum and help participating universities launch business accelerators to assist their researchers in finding startup funding and establishing business partnerships.
