BCSO: Hundreds arrested during police operations targeting gangs

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Monday night that 18 separate police operations between February and September netted 26 pounds of methamphetamine, eight pounds of heroin, 223 felony and 71 misdemeanor arrests.

The sheriff’s office’s Gang Recognition Intelligence Patrol and Criminal Investigation Division led the effort, and they received assistance from Albuquerque police and New Mexico State Police and New Mexico Probation and Parole, according to the news release.

The release says that police also recovered 31 stolen vehicle and 30 firearms.

The release didn’t say where deputies focused the operations, other than that they were in areas affected by gang crime.
