The state’s new unemployment insurance toll free phone system has added a third self-service option with claimants now able to check the status of their claim, the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions announced Thursday.
The new toll free number, 1-877-NM-4-MY-UI (1-877-664-6984), was launched last week with 999 incoming lines and service available 24 hours a day, in English and Spanish, for claimants to perform their weekly certification and reset their PIN (personal identification number) without interacting with a department customer service representative, according to a news release from the agency.
With the addition of the status check option, claimants will be able to access up to date information regarding their claim anytime they want, Ken Ortz, department secretary, said.

Unemployment insurance claimants can now use a new toll free number to perform their weekly certification and reset their personal identification, or PIN, number 24 hours a day without having to interact with a Department of Workforce Solutions customer service number.
The department announced in a news release Tuesday that it had launched the toll free number and 24-hour a day self-service environment. Starting next week the department also will begin offering a “status check” option via the toll free number for claimants to obtain the status of their claim.
The toll free number is 1-877-NM-4-MY-UI (1-877-664-6984) and it has 999 incoming lines with service available in English and Spanish, according to the news release.
“This day has been long in coming for our thousands of unemployment insurance claimants,” said Ken Ortiz, secretary of the Department of Workforce Solutions. “We are pleased to offer a toll free phone number and self-service options, 24 hours a day for all customers throughout New Mexico.”
