All eyes towards the sky as 2018 Balloon Fiesta kicks off

6:40 p.m. update:

Tonight’s Twilight Twinkle Glow™ has been canceled due to strong winds. Other events, such as lasers, sky divers and fireworks are still on. See the schedule below.

Check out pictures, videos and more from this morning’s launch below.

It’s that time of year again. Color-dotted skies. The deep-throttle sound of gas burners. Faces looking up, eyes filled with wonder. Are you ready for it? Us too.

Sure, there’s extra traffic outside the park. And the occasional line to get in. But as a whole, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta feels like the time of year when the city allows itself to officially embrace joy and celebrate the spirit of adventure.

We’ll be there each day to stream the launches to you live, cellular service willing. And we’ll be posting picture galleries and stories throughout the nine days, too.

Check our posts each morning for a list of events and other information.

All eyes towards the sky.
