101.7 hires Villanucci as talk show host

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Jim Villanucci is making a comeback into Albuquerque radio on Monday, when he takes over the drive time talk show on KQTM-FM 101.7.

Station president Joe O’Neill wrote in a statement that the show, billed as “Sports, Talk and More” will air Mondays-Fridays, 4-7 p.m., occupying essentially the time slot vacated recently when Bob Brown retired after 10 years of hosting “The Locker Room.”

“The range of this show is as unlimited as Jim’s talent,” said O’Neill.

Villanucci hosted an afternoon show on KKOB-AM 770 for nearly 14 years ending in late Feb. 2013, when Cumulus Media elected not to renew his contract.

Villanucci’s show will compete on the all-sports scene with “The Sports Bar” that airs 3-7 p.m. on 610 AM and 94.5 FM.
