Muñoz honored as MW Tourney begins

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — New Mexico soccer player Jennifer Muñoz has been named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced.

Muñoz, a senior forward, scored a pair of goals in UNM’s regular season finale at San Diego State. The 3-1 victory over the Aztecs gave UNM a share of the Mountain West regular-season championship.

The third-seeded Lobos will face sixth-seeded Colorado College today at 5 p.m. in a Mountain West Tournament quarterfinal in San Jose, Calif.

ALL-MWC: Muñoz on Monday joined two UNM teammates, sophomore Jessie Hix and sophomore Gwen Maly, on the All-Mountain West first team.

Two Lobos, senior Jessica Nelson and freshman Alesia Garcia, were named to the All-MWC second team.
