Bacon selected to fill vacancy on the 2nd Judicial District Court bench
C. Shannon Bacon has been named to the 2nd Judicial District Court bench, which covers Bernalillo County, by Gov. Bill Richardson.
The Albuquerque attorney replaces Judge Geraldine Rivera, who retired March 1, according to a news release Monday from the Governor’s Office. Bacon’s appointment was effective immediately.
Bacon has been a shareholder with Sutin, Thayer & Browne since 2005, the news release said. Previously she was a partner with Eaves, Bardacke, Baught, Kierst & Larson from 1999 to 2005, and also worked two years as a law clerk for state Court of Appeals Judge A. Joseph Alarid.
The news release said Bacon received a bachelor’s degree and law degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
“Shannon’s intellect and commitment to the legal system will lead her to be an excellent judge and an asset to the 2nd Judicial District,” Richardson said.
