Gov. Susana Martinez’s administration has posted the names and job titles and salaries of all state employees, classified and exempt, on a public web site.
The announcement came three weeks after a state district judge ordered the Martinez administration to take the names of classified employees off the state’s Sunshine Portal. A public employees’ union had challenged the posting of classified workers’ names, saying the law that created the Sunshine Portal didn’t allow names to be posted, just job titles and salaries.
The administration instead has posted the list of classified and other state employees within the state’s portal website, which is www.newmexico.gov. That site provides a broad range of information about New Mexico.
A lawyer for the union that challenged the Sunshine Portal posting, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 18, says the union is disappointed with the governor’s action.
