SIGNED: Rhiannon Salazar of St. Michael’s is headed to Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas, to play softball. Alicia Gonzales of Los Alamos has signed to play softball at New Mexico Highlands.


DONS GO DOWN: West Las Vegas came up short of making it an all Las Vegas Class 3A final, losing in the semifinals to host Dexter 35-7.

HOOPS: A number of tournaments tip off during the holiday season, with the Al Armendariz Boys Tournament at Capital High School finishing up with semifinals today at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and the finals Saturday at 7 p.m. The field includes Pecos, EspaƱola Valley, Pojoaque, Santa Fe and the host Jaguars.

The St. Michael’s, Capital, Santa Fe Indian School, Los Alamos and Santa Fe boys get things going Thursday through Dec. 8 in the Bobby Rodriguez Capital City Classic at Santa Fe High School.

And in Las Vegas, N.M., the Brian Gallegos Lady Dons Shoot Out runs Thursday
