Comic strip ‘Macanudo’ makes its Journal debut today

Readers of the Journal who are fans of the funnies will find a new comic strip, “Macanudo,” starting today on the first page of the Classifieds section, along with the ever-popular “Dilbert.”

“Macanudo” is new to the United States, but it has been published daily since 2002 in Argentina and has since grown to be one of the most celebrated comic strips in South America. Its creator, Liniers, has 958,000 followers on Facebook, 760,000 on Twitter and 258,000 on Instagram.

Liniers, who draws a large cast of recurring characters ranging from penguins to gnomes to Picasso, says his goal is to have his strip be a “little window of optimism in an apocalyptic world.”

“Macanudo” replaces “9 Chickweed Lane.”
