Santa Fe Opera recording grabs four Grammy nominations

The Santa Fe Opera recording of “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” has been nominated for four Grammy Awards.

The Santa Fe Opera’s world premiere of Mason Bates and Mark Campbell’s opera was tapped for Best Engineered Album, Classical; Producer of the Year, Classical; Best Opera Recording; and Best Contemporary Classical Composition.

The Santa Fe Opera produced the world premiere in July 2017, and performances of the sold-out run were recorded live. The album was released on the Pentatone label in 2018.

bright spot“The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” was a Santa Fe Opera co-commission with the Seattle Opera and the San Francisco Opera with support from Cal Performances. It was co-produced with the Seattle Opera, the San Francisco Opera, and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, which performed it in September.

The production will open on Feb. 23 at Seattle Opera and will appear in the San Francisco Opera’s 2019-2020 season.
