Farmington will host a welcome home party for Chevel Shepherd on Saturday.

The 16-year-old Farmington High School student was named the winner of NBC’s “The Voice” on Tuesday. She picked up the title after a national vote.

The event will take place from 12:30-3 p.m.

The welcome home procession will begin at 12:30 p.m. and dignitaries will lead Shepherd into San Juan County.

According to the Farmington Convention & Visitors Bureau, family, friends and fans are encouraged to line the streets of Aztec, Flora Vista and Farmington, with signs, flags and more to show their love and support for the teen.

At 1 p.m., the doors will open at Farmington High School Arena, 2200 N. Sunset Avenue. Shepherd is expected to arrive at 2 p.m.

Organizers said seating is first come, first serve.

All events are free to attend.
