Selfless Seniors improve their communities

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The APS Education Foundation has announced its 2019 Selfless Seniors, who will be honored during a banquet and with a special page in the Journal this spring.

The objective of the program, now in its 11th year, is to shine the spotlight on students who work behind the scenes to make their community a better place to live, organizers said in a news release.

One student from each Albuquerque Public Schools comprehensive high school as well as one magnet school was chosen from nominations submitted by school staff, nonprofits and the community at large, they said.

Each Selfless Senior receives a free portrait thanks to the generosity of Albuquerque photographer Frank Frost. The portraits will be displayed throughout the city: on the APS website, electronic billboards, and on display boards in each APS high school as well as the Sunport and other local businesses.
