Sandia Peak will open Saturday, it was announced Friday morning in a press release.
Jessica Speck-Fox, marketing and communications manager for the ski area, said in an email that the recent storm dumped 17 inches of snow over the New Year’s holiday and Highway 536, which had been closed since Dec. 26, has been reopened.
Lifts 2, 3, 4 and the Mitey Mite will be running; all facilities will be open including the Double Eagle II Cafeteria, Snow Sports School, Cubby Corner Children’s Facility, Rental Shop and Sandia Peak Sports Shop.
After the weekend, the area will be open Friday through Sunday weekly and holidays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
