NM’s big leaguers pitching in with camps, dinner

The Albuquerque Baseball Academy will cap a weekend of skills camps with a “Dinner with the Pros” fundraiser Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the Sid Cutter Pilot’s Pavilion at Balloon Fiesta Park.

The dinner will feature World Series champion Blake Swihart (Boston, 2018), and Mitch Garver of the Minnesota Twins. Albuquerque native and 2017 World Series champion Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros originally was scheduled to participate, but he had surgery on his right elbow on Friday in Houston and will miss the event.

Tickets are $50 seat or $400 for a table (eight seats) and can be purchased at the Albuquerque Baseball Academy (4101 Paseo Del Norte, 87113) or at

Prior to Sunday’s dinner, the ABA will host the Alex Bregman and Mitch Garver Camp for Kids. The camp will also feature former MLB player Jordan Pacheco and will benefit the Justin Solomon Medical Fund, the Faith Kuhn Medical Fund, Bregman’s AB for Autism, the Martin Romero Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Clayton Brack Medical Fund.

The camp will run from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
