SANTA FE — On social media, family and friends have identified the man who was killed near the Ohkay Owingeh casino Saturday as Phillip Glock.
Glock, 53, was found dead on the side of N.M. 68 north of Española across from the Ohkay Travel Center with a gunshot wound to his face. Dennis Velasquez, 24, has been charged with murder in what a federal criminal complaint says started as a road rage incident.
“This is my ex husband,” Karry Jones wrote on Facebook on Sunday, before Velasquez was arrested. “Phil Glock. I pray they find the person. He is the father to my 2 sons. His 2 smaller kids were in the truck at the time with him. The kids are ok.”
The FBI has still not officially confirmed the victim’s identity beyond using the initials P.G. and the name “Glock” in a court documents. Albuquerque FBI Frank Fisher said it was Department of Justice policy to not identify homicide victims.
An FBI criminal complaint contains various accounts of how and why Glock was shot by Velasquez and who was the aggressor after one vehicle allegedly cut off another and then both stopped. Velasquez’s father says Glock was approaching with what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun, but a witness not involved in the dispute said it was a baton.
