Brown (Cibola) out for season at Florida State

Amaya Brown’s freshman season at Florida State has come to a premature end.

The Seminoles guard from Cibola High School on Sunday suffered a season-ending knee injury in a victory at Virginia Tech after falling to the floor late in the game.

Brown, who had recently earned her way into the starting lineup and had started two of the last three games for FSU, averaged 3.1 points and 1.9 rebounds for nationally ranked Florida State through 20 games.

Brown suffered a major knee injury in July 2016 that caused her to miss her entire junior season at Cibola, but Sunday’s injury is to the other knee, Cibola coach Lori Mabrey said.
