SANTA FE, N.M. — The Santa Fe Opera’s recording of “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” won Best Opera Recording at the 2019 Grammy Awards Sunday.
SFO produced the world premiere of Mason Bates and Mark Campbell’s opera about the late co-founder of Apple in June 2017 and staged it throughout that summer. The opera was recorded live for an album released last year.
“The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” recording was also nominated but did not win Grammys for Best Contemporary Classical Composition; Best Engineered Album, Classical; and Producer of the Year, Classical.
The opera will be staged at the Seattle Opera and San Francisco Opera, which co-commissioned the work, later this year. Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music performed it in September.
