Man shot in face during road-rage incident

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man is in the hospital after he was shot in the face in northeast Albuquerque on Tuesday morning in what police are calling an act of road rage.

Albuquerque police spokesman Simon Drobik said the shooting happened around 11 a.m. in the 2400 block of Jefferson NE, near Cutler.

“Officers arrived on scene and observed people providing first aid to a male victim who sustained a gunshot wound to his left nostril,” he said. “The victim was taken to UNMH where he is currently being treated for his injuries.”

Drobik said the bullet went through the windshield, into the man’s nose and exited the back of his neck.

He said the man is expected to survive. Police are looking for an older model BMW sedan in connection to the shooting.

Police released a video of the incident, showing a silver BMW closely following a maroon car down the street.
