Santa Fe Deputies Rescued from Forest

SANTA FE, N.M. — Three Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies had to be rescued from the forest north of Santa Fe after one of them injured his knee during an investigation this evening, according to a search and rescue official.

A search party of about 20 volunteers had to be called in to retrieve the deputies, who were conducting an unknown investigation near Forest Road 102 in Hyde Park north of Santa Fe, said Bob Rodgers, a state Search and Rescue spokesman.

One deputy sustained a minor knee injury before 6:00 p.m., Rodgers said. The injured deputy was set to walk on crutches out of the forest to a trail head as of 11:30 p.m.
