SANTA FE — The state House on Monday approved a bill that would make a host of changes to the New Mexico lottery.
House Bill 441 calls for any unclaimed prized money to go into the tuition fund that provides scholarships to college students. The legislation also says any bonuses given to the lottery CEO must be tied to increases in the amount of money going into the tuition fund.
Co-sponsoring the bill are Rep. Jason Harper, R-Rio Rancho; Rep. Matthew McQueen, D-Galisteo; and House Minority Whip Rod Montoya, R-Farmington.
The bill passed 64-0 and now moves over to the Senate for consideration.
