Isotopes update promotions, Rockies impact their roster prospects

Days before their exhibition game with the parent Colorado Rockies, the Albuquerque Isotopes announced additional promotional plans for later in the season.

Mariachis Piñatas will now be given away on the evening of June 25. Dukes Retro Night, which has been a longtime regular in the promotional lineup but wasn’t in the early schedule, has been set for July 21.

Also, June 25 will also be “Taco Tuesday” at Isotopes Park, featuring taco specials at the ballpark.

With the addition of the Piñata giveaway, the Mariachis series will now feature four giveaways along with Mariachis fleece blankets on April 6, adult jerseys on July 19, and ballet folklórico bobbleheads on Aug. 11. The May 18 date will feature postgame fireworks.

Berm seating is now on sale for this Monday’s Rockies exhibition game at Isotopes Park. Tickets are available at the Isotopes Park Box Office and The Isotopes open the 2019 regular season at home on April 4.

TRANSACTIONS: Mike Tauchman might have been ticketed for another season in Albuquerque, but the parent Colorado Rockies traded him to the New York Yankees on Saturday. Colorado got left-hander Phillip Diehl in exchange.

The 28-year-old Tauchman made his major league debut in 2017 and hit just .153 in 59 at-bats in 52 career games with Colorado. He spent the majority of the 2018 season with the Isotopes and hit .323 with 84 runs, 26 doubles, 20 homers and 81 RBIs in 112 games.

Colorado on Saturday also optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Estévez and infielder Pat Valaika to Albuquerque.
