Fourth person dies from fiery I-10 crash on Sunday

A fourth person has died in the fiery wreck involving two tractor trailers and a pickup along Interstate 10 near Lordsburg during daylight hours on Sunday, New Mexico State Police reported.

The initial investigation indicated a 2015 Freightliner tractor trailer was traveling east on the freeway when it crossed the center median for unknown reasons and hit a westbound 2013 Kenworth tractor trailer head on about 3:30 p.m.

The Freightliner’s trailer then hit a 1999 Dodge pickup also traveling west. Both semis caught fire.

The driver of the pickup, Arnold Rojo, 51, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., died Tuesday at an area hospital, State Police said.

Previously, the Office of the Medical Investigator reported those killed during the wreck were driver of the Kenworth, Jose Apodaca, 47, of El Paso, a passenger in the pickup, Susan Rojo, 47, of Sierra Vista, and the driver of the Freightliner, Sean White, 50, of West Covina, Calif.

A 13-year-old female passenger in the pickup, believed to be from Arizona, was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. Police said Tuesday they had no update on her condition.
