‘Sweet Honey Money’: Santa Ana Star Casino welcomes spring with $100,000 cash giveaway

Spring has arrived, and Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel is celebrating with its “$100,000 Sweet Honey Money” promotion this April.

Star Rewards Club members can earn drawing entries from Sunday, April 7, through May 25. Members will receive one entry for every 500 points they accrue. Drawings will be held at 8 p.m. Saturdays beginning on April 13.

Three patrons will be chosen each week for a chance to play for $100,000 cash. Two guests will win free-play prizes, and one will win a cash prize ranging from $1,500 to $100,000.

Accrue points faster on Fridays this month during “2X Pay Day Play Day.” Guests will earn two times the points from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays. There also will be $50 free-play drawings. Drawings will be held at 9 and 11 a.m., and 1, 3 and 5 p.m. Fridays. Signature, Premier and Plus Star Rewards Club members will receive free entries based on their tiers. All members will earn drawing entries for every 50 points earned on a drawing day.

A brunch buffet will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays. The buffet is $10.95 regular price, $5 for Preview members, $3 for Plus members, and free for Signature and Premier members.

Later this month, the Feast Buffet will offer an Easter brunch menu from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 21. Offerings include prime rib, carved ham, roasted leg of lamb, shrimp and salmon, as well as crepes and seasonal desserts. The Easter brunch is $23.95 per person. The Feast Buffet is also offering Friday seafood specials for Lent through April 19.

Juniper Steakhouse will have its own Easter special. It is offering braised lamb shanks and root vegetables with a honey mint demi-glace course for $28 per person from 5 to 9 p.m. on April 21. The regular dinner menu also will be available.

At Cantina Rio, enjoy a ham dinner special on April 21. Guests can dig into a grilled ham steak with ginger snap glaze, mashed potatoes and maple-glazed carrots for $15.95 per person. Cantina Rio is now offering weekend breakfast specials, including a loaded Belgian waffle with strawberries and blueberries for $9 on Saturdays and a Chef’s Mess Skillet with fried O’Brien potatoes, chorizo, peppers, onions and eggs for $9 on Sundays. Classic Bloody Mary cocktails are available to pair with breakfast on both days for $4.

Santa Ana Star has some funny acts coming through this April.

The Stage welcomes comedian, actor and podcaster Bryan Callen on April 12 and April 13. Callen will perform at 7 and 9:30 p.m. both days. “WERK! Dine and Drag” comes to The Stage on April 20. The Stage and Albuquerque Pride present drag queen and cabaret performer Miss Coco Peru. She will be joined by other local drag queens at 7 p.m. Piff the Magic Dragon returns to The Stage in May. Shows are at 7 p.m. on May 3, and 7 and 9:30 p.m. on May 4.

Stand-up Comedy Thursdays continue at The Stage. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the comedy begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Laugh it up with Spencer James and Nathan Lund on April 11, Gabriel Rutledge and Antonio Aguilar on April 18, and Ron Feingold and Adam Bob on April 25. On weekends, Lounge 54 offers live entertainment by popular local acts beginning at 9 p.m. Shane Wallin performs tonight and Saturday, April 6, The Bus Tapes play on April 12 and 13, David & Co. entertain on April 19 and 20, and Kyle Martin on April 26 and 27.
