Rio Rancho resident announces candidacy for commission

RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Rio Ranchoan Alexandria Piland has announced that she is running for Sandoval County commissioner for District 4, which includes the west side of Rio Rancho, starting at Southern Boulevard and Nicklaus Drive, south on Unser Boulevard to the county line, west to the county line and north to King Boulevard.

Piland has spent over 20 years as an educator in the local community college and believes the county needs to work to keep students from leaving when they graduate.

Her emphasis is on making Sandoval County a better place with good-paying jobs, and protecting the environment.

Piland’s goals include fostering better relationships between government and the private sector, listening to the residents of Sandoval County, ensuring transparency in government, keeping the commission focused on passing legal legislation and avoiding political theater.
