ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Volcano Vista is the site of this week’s Albuquerque Metro Volleyball Championship.
The 16-team event begins at 4:15 this afternoon with pool play. There are four, four-team pools.
The host Hawks are pooled with Del Norte, Sandia and Rio Grande.
Cibola, Valley, La Cueva and Highland are in another pool.
The third pool has Atrisco Heritage Academy, Eldorado, West Mesa and Cleveland.
The final pool features Rio Rancho, Manzano, Albuquerque High and Albuquerque Academy.
The 16 teams will be divided in half after pool play, into the “Gold” and “Silver” brackets.
All bracket play begins Friday afternoon and evening at Volcano Vista, with the “Gold” bracket matches — the championship bracket — beginning at 6:30 p.m. That bracket has the top two finishers from each of the four pools.
Every school will play two additional matches Saturday.
The title match is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
